Hello all, just picked up a set of BFG KO2"s for my 4Runner, and it got me to thinking about the spare tire. Do most feel it necessary to relocate the spare, for clearance,or is this a non issue. Also does anyone have experience with the Wilco hitch gate? Are they robust / any known problems? If I went that route are they stout enough for 2 jerry cans and a Hilift jack ? My offroad driving needs at this time are mild to medium.resized bfg.jpg

What size tires did you get? I've looked at the wilco in person and they seem pretty solid. I don't think it will hold jerry cans and a jack though. If you are at that point you will want to upgrade the rear bumper.

On a Tacoma you can easily fit a 265/75 in the normal location for the spare. You can fit a 285/75 but you have to move the lift mechanism and the locator tabs.

Yep, it depends on the tire size. I replaced my OEM tires on my 2016 4Runner with BFG KO2 275/75-17, and the spare fit in the original well just fine.
