4.5" Lifted Honda Passport Flex Test + Offroad Adventure Who Got Stuck? Overland South 2025

  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

I just wrapped up editing our latest Overland South footage. In this video, I had the chance to put my Passport on the RTI flex ramp. For anyone unfamiliar, RTI (Ramp Travel Index) measures suspension flex and articulation, a test usually dominated by solid axle rigs and long-travel setups.

Our lifted Passport managed an RTI of 451. That’s nowhere near the crazy 800 to 1000 numbers you see from SAS 4Runners or built Wranglers, but honestly the crowd reaction was way more positive than I expected. People were genuinely surprised at how far a unibody Honda was able to flex given the platform’s independent suspension.

We had our front sway bar disconnected to increase travel. The back needs to stay connected to prevent the axle from rubbing on our exhaust.

Build details for context:
  • HRG Offroad 4.5” Lift – tallest production lift available for the Passport, keeps the factory suspension geometry working without custom fabrication.
  • No-Lo Designs Skid Plate – protects the vulnerable oil pan and front underbody when crawling or cresting obstacles.
  • 33” Goodyear Duratrac RTs – great balance of traction, ride comfort, and clearance without major trimming.

Adding the lift and tires doesn’t magically turn it into a rock crawler, but it really opens up where you can go. The RTI score might look low compared to purpose built rigs, but it highlighted what I like most about the Passport. It’s a comfortable daily that can still surprise people when the terrain gets rough.

I just posted a new video on the Gotter Adventure YouTube channel featuring our first measured flex test. Check out the video if you want to see the flex test and our Passport offroading with an SAS 4Runner and multiple lifted Broncos. (Who do you think gets stuck?)
