- 303 Automotive UV Protectant
- Yakima SlimShady awning

303 Auto UV is magical on everything, but can it be applied to the awning fabric for UV resistance? Does anyone here treat their awning with a protectant?

303 makes a fabric protection spray but I'm more concerned with UV because Yakima products seem to be designed to fade rather quickly!

ive been using the 303 aerospace protectant for quite a few years and it does work pretty good. 303 makes quite a few products and after reading the data on all of them, i went with the aerospace formula versus the automobile formula. that one is said to have the best UV protectant and that is what i wanted for the brutal hot sun here in south louisiana. i use it on vehicles, my boat, RV, etc. i havent used it on our actual awning, but i did use it on the awning cover. we have the rhino bat-wing and the zip up awning cover is what sits in the sun everyday, so i hit it with a dose of 303 ever so often and it stays pliable and doesnt seem to fade. black colors dont fade as bad because of the pigments used (mainly carbon for black), whereas colors like red will fade pretty quick because most red colored pigments are organic dyes and react more to UV, so probably more info than you wanted, but something to keep in the back of your mind when picking colors for items going outside. if you ever notice, red stickers and some other colors fade way faster.

check out the 303 aerospace specs and see if that might be better. the awnings are made from 420 denier nylon and the 303 is made for synthetics like nylon, so yeah...should work great.

i also went with the aerospace formula because my camp gear set up is "out of this world"...:sunglasses:
My Auto bottle is running low so I'll give Aerospace a go. Thank you for the response!
