That would be best answered by someone who has any of these. Since I usually go alone (includes family members), I just rely on walkie-talkies.I'll be there!
What are most people using for communications in this group? I know most people aren't HAM licensed and I won't be by that time either. FRS/GMRS? CB?

usually yelling and/or FRS/GMRS handhelds - i just got my GMRS license so I can legally use those channels with hi-power on my handheld. Now having someone to to talk to and actually wants to listen to me is another issue. ;)I'll be there!

Others may if they so desire, but I'm not planning to stay overnight.I've got CB and handie talkie, but am truly out of touch with ham radio, haven't been active for over 15 years now.
There also seems to be some confusion between one-day vs overnite, well on my part anyway. I'm open to either one, but keep in mind that the route can be run in one day and need not go to Fredericksburg.
Maybe we should get together beforehand and discuss the route and timing.
