    M416 trailer

That is good to know, thanks for the info. That was another concern of mine as far as using a pintle hitch.

    M416 trailer

Very nice I've been toying with the idea an M416 for a little while. What is your set up for the hitch? I see the sample you have has the pintle eye removed and the tongue modified for obvious reasons. Are you planning to go to a ball hitch. My concern has always been hitch / tongue alignment. I...

US East Northern VA / MD Monthly Meetups

I am a heavy equipment field tech averaging around 900 miles a week. In fact I've recently been involved in some work on the solar farm around Locust Grove Va. I've actually worked in the Lorton Area a few years ago. Sometimes my perception of driving distance can be a bit different than someone...

US East Northern VA / MD Monthly Meetups

I’m new to overland bound I’m on the Eastern Shore of Md just south of the Bay Bridge on Kent Island. I would definitely be up for joining in for a meetup no problem with Northern Va or Western Md. As long as I’m not on the road for work.

Jump Box, Jumper Cables or Both?

I carry both I have flat plugs front and rear on my rig and 20 foot cables. That way I don't have to go crazy trying to get into position to give or receive. I use a cheaper box (can't remember the brand) that has served me well but gets depleted quickly when the draw is high. I have an inverter...

Full size P/U Tuff Stuff rack question

I was going to get the 40" and I saw there was a back order till mid January and the 51" was available so I dug a little deeper which may require me to eat ramen noodles instead of steak. Waiting for it to arrive as we speak

Full size P/U Tuff Stuff rack question

Thats correct, I'm mounting it on a short bed GMC. Do you have anything mounted to yours Hi Lift jack etc. ? Seems tike I may need to get creative with fabricating. Tents don't seem to be an issue just mat tracks and the like. I haven't seen a large number of accessory mounts available.

High Mileage Rigs And Legendary Powerplants

Last time I checked we were talking about "OPINIONS" on reliable vehicle engine/configurations and not locomotives and ships. And if you purchased a truck that had a "bulbous" dashboard as a result of your engine choice that's on you! By the way I've refreshed V16 natural gas powered stationary...

High Mileage Rigs And Legendary Powerplants

Better yet, setting the rack on a 2 stroke detroit ranging from I-4 53's to 12v92tta's which unfortunately I've had the pleasure. Some of which were left hand rotation "2 stroke joke turns perfectly good fuel into useless noise and smoke" LOL

A regular check of the vehicle lights is important

Hey all! Just one tie in, a little different angle to add to the importance of lighting performance and condition. I drive a mechanics truck for a living generally 1000 miles a week and in different weather and road conditions. It is law in many states that if your wipers are on your headlights...

High Mileage Rigs And Legendary Powerplants

A little more general here I'm a big fan of inline six engines when it comes to reliability. My first was a 292 ci in a 65 chevy stepside that went to 210,000 when the odometer quit drove it a few more years after that then sold it still running. Later had a 300 cid ford in an 83 F150 pretty...

    Tuff Stuff rack question

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the 51" Tuff Stuff brand rack on a full size P/U (Sierra1500 crew in my case)? Seems to be simple and well made and within my budget. Just don't want to waste time and money on something that has mounting or installation issues. I'm not concerned...

Full size P/U Tuff Stuff rack question

Anyone have any experience with Tuff Stuff racks on a full size pick up (Sierra 1500 in my case)? I'm looking at the 51" for my crew cab short bed. They are in budget for me and seem to be well made. My biggest concern is how they hold up down the line I'm not figuring to be too intense as far...

    Overland tool kit

Looks like you have all the bases covered. Inevitably there will be something you need and don't have. I've been a field service tech working on heavy equipment for more years than I am willing to admit to and I do have a suggestion. Many times my job required me to get to equipment that was in...
