You're probably right. I'll do it if I can find a breaker option that isn't a box/breake3 combo that's like out of a house. Seems like over kill. I'm wondering if I could use a 15 amp breaker like for car audio

After all the advice and all the research I ended up just wiring the inverter directly to the battery and hard wiring a receptacle to the 120 volt outs on the inverter. The Renogy inverter has a blade fuse which I assume would cut power to the receptacle and shut off the outlets on the unit itself.

I have solar also but haven't perfected its use yet. I have 180 watts permanently mounted to truck topper. I built swivel arms to tilt panels when needed. I also have a portable renogy panel. My system has a lot of redundancy and I'm starting to realize I have a fear of lack of juice!

I've considered a little generator as well. I'm thinking about a propane generator. I carry so much propane it seems like a good choice. I use propane for my cooking stoves, lanterns, pop up furnace, water heater and a burner I use to boil water. I Cant live without prop!

I have a Renogy lithium in my Xterra. I usually go out in my GMC so I have no clue how well the lithium works. Have yet to put it to a test. My Xterra electrical setup is less sophisticated than in the GMC but it will probably do the trick

Big reason I'm adding the second battery is the fact (or opinion) that you're not supposed to run AGM down too much or it will ruin them. So to say I had a 200 amp hr battery wasn't really true if I cant use 200 amp hrs. I feel like having 400 amp hr bank will NOW give me 200 amp hrs

Finally installing a 270 awning to replace the old ebay special. It's an Ironman 4x4 270. Had to modify the mounts to fit on my truck topper rails. Can't wait to test this awning on the trail. I also bought the annex walls. Ironman seems like a decent company so far.

Yeah diesel heaters are becoming popular. Ebay has some for $200 or less. They are chinese. The patents ran out on some of the German designs from the 50 and 60s so the Chinese are making them now. I'm sure the quality isn't nearly is as good but for $150? Why not. I'm thinking about getting one...
