    Solid axle versus independent suspension

They are expensive because they are purpose built, cater to a small market, handmade, and thoroughly tested in the environment they were built for. I don't think other standard camper trailers are that much more, but their quality is horrendous. They fall apart on the lot. Or how about other US...

    Solid axle versus independent suspension

After doing the currency conversion, the Australians pay $46,000us and we pay $53,000us (on sale from a local dealer). That's a $7k difference, most likely for the reason I mentioned. Maybe if the US would get off it's butt and make a comparable and reliable trailer......

    Solid axle versus independent suspension

Cost of what? If the Cruisemaster, and you're worried about cost, then don't bother. lol If the Dexter, then they are cheap as hell for the performance you get, and definitely order the 32 or 45 down angle so you get a ton of lift with the small axle sitting up against your frame.

    Solid axle versus independent suspension

Is an overland trailer really worth the expense?

Older, used popups or teardrops will get the job done on 90% of the trails at a fraction of the price. I wouldn't take them rock crawling, but if you do your research and buy a quality built unit, it will follow you for years. This 86 Coleman Tara has been in the family since new. My father...

    Popup Campers for overlanding

First, don't listen to those who say they will shake apart. That is coming from people who don't own one. The Opus is great and the top of the line for offroad capability and luxury. But, can you afford it? $30k is the intro level. If you don't mind the price tag, get one! I for one am...
