Exactly. A buddy with a WJ had a lot of success with an airdam under his core support/rad skid. I'd like to set something like that up that removes pretty quickly (I was thinking nut-certs in the core support so it's just maybe 4-6 bolts to pull out... I'd throw the bolts back in when the dam...
Thanks! Too many vehicles here too, but I'm far to deep in the WJ to ever get rid of it, lol.
Yeah, I've had 6 factory GenIII Hemi vehicles (3 x WK2 Grands, 3 x RAMs) all tended to just run at 210-220 anyway. The Trackhawk and TRX would run cooler (lower fan actuation) in the Track modes...
Well, believe it or not I drove the WJ home last week. The tune still needs a little work, and in 105+ ambient temps it would run 210-220 in traffic which is totally safe (and what almost all modern Hemis run stock anyway) but I got a little pinging once it was 210+. A few other odds and ends...
I think this is part of your problem. If you're running the intake outside, it's pulling warm/humid air from outside to cool, and pumping it in. You want the intake air to be from within the shell (like running the "recirculate" mode on your dash AC). Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but...
So, what has become of this thing? In short, nothing good. It's a constant cycle of one step forward, two steps back.
I don't even know where to begin, and there have been so many issues I probably wouldn't even remember them all. But we battled with overheating (always shut it down before...
I guess it's time for an update, though not much has changed. As with all rigs, there's always room for refinement and sometimes things do break. To the later point, I thought the original turbo was going out. The VGT actuator is a common failure on these rigs, and my entire turbo and VGT...
Take a look at this thread I started: If you're going to ask "what vehicle is best..."
I don't mean that as a knock, or to be snide, and I know you covered *some* of the questions there. Still, we need to know a lot more about your budget and needs to really narrow it down. "Affordable" to one...
Congrats. I really like the 5th Gen 1500s with the 5.7/8spd. I had a '19 that was a great truck (custom ordered with the larger fuel tank too... if yours doesn't have that I bet you can retrofit it with all OEM parts). For some reason the 1500 RAMs seem massively overlooked in Overlanding...
Some good answers here already. In general, I'm with @North American Sojourner that generally you will find "the same folks you meet every day." However, thus far I'd say there's one big exception or difference. While you'll find folks from just about every walk of life, the "Overlanders"...
I agree. I think the Overland community has way overestimated the need for crazy/complicated IFS/air bag whatever trailer suspensions. Yes, they do provide some advantages, but the cost and complexity is totally unnecessary for 99% of Overlanders IMHO.

Well, I'm long overdue for an update here. I really wanted my next post to be a picture of me out in the WJ camping, but with a lot of other things going on in life it just hasn't gotten there yet. I will say, things are much closer, yet the update is more or less the same: more...
Congrats on the new rig, looking forward to the continued build! I'm a big fan of a full size and FWC myself. If I was starting from scratch today, I'd get something very much like your rig (though it'd be hard for me to pass up the 7.3 because I'm a big power guy at heart). I have a regular...
