Does anyone in the northeast use 146.460 MHz?

You are probably right. Not much overlanding in NJ. At least I live in the pine lands. But every group ride I’ve been on has used FRS except for one that used GMRS. So no one is using ham. I got my ham radio for overlanding and have never gotten to use it a tear and a half later. I have...

Does anyone in the northeast use 146.460 MHz?

I will monitor it from time to time but never hear anyone on it. I even have my APRS stating that I’m monitoring. nothing. All group rides that I have been on have used GMRS or FRS. Ham has been disappointing. :-(

    Bald Eagle State Forest Planning

My GF and I spent a night there a couple weeks ago. I strongly suggest calling the ranger office and talk to them. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Plus, as DevilDodge stated, you need to get the permits from them anyway. We stayed at campsite 1 because it was a huge campsite which...

    VT/NH Overnight Trip

We just finished a 5 day trip. The first two days we used HIPCAMP and stayed at the Beer Naked Brewery for some excellent beer and pizza! We then went up to FR 71 and stayed at a couple different sites along there. We did a 6 mile day hike at Jamaica State Park to the waterfalls which was a...

    VT/NH Overnight Trip

My Gf and I are planning our first dispersed camping trip in a few weekends to Vermont. I was planning on starting at an on-road leg from art 9 going up Somerset Rd (along the Deerfield river)to Forest Rd 71. If we are still looking for more adventure I was thinking of continuing more north to...

What's your latest camping gear purchase, and what caused you to buy it?

I just ordered the ARB Dual compressor air compressor and the Expedition Essentials Bedside Compressor Mount. In a few weeks I will have my compressor installed on board, hidden and tucked away in the little storage cubby in the side of my Tacoma bed. It’s a little pricey but I can’t wait to...

Gathering information/thoughts/ experiences/unique, must see things for a planned trip around Central Pennsylvania(all of PA and surrounding states)

@DevilDodge my girlfriend and I ran out for a one nighter in Bald Eagle last night. We stayed in campsite #1 which was just off of route 80 on Mile Run Rd. We really enjoyed it. Most of the roads were gravel-paved but we found Yarison Rd which led to Walters Rd (off of Fourth Gap Rd.). It...

    APRS- Overland Bound

I just thought that it would be interesting to see other people on a highway if I was overlanding. You could say “hi”. A simple QSO with someone that has something in common.

    APRS- Overland Bound

Just curious how many (if anyone) puts something in their APRS beacon noting they are an overland bound member? I added it to mine in case I’m driving and someone within range from here see it they can call reach out. My current beacon lists my Name-Overland Bound-Frequency-shift Thoughts?

Pennsylvania MVU Roads and dispersed camping ideas

Pennsylvania MVU Roads and dispersed camping ideas

I was thinking about doing a day trip exploring the bald eagle forest tomorrow. Eventually I want to bring my camper trailer but tomorrow would just be driving my Tacoma to get a feel for the land. I am trying to understand what these maps call trails versus roads. There are lots of “trails”...

The OFFICIAL Trans NJ Trail Thread

That’s awesome! It does say it’s limited to rent-style camping so I wonder if camping trailers would be disqualified?

Pennsylvania MVU Roads and dispersed camping ideas

Give the current state of our country I am looking to do some dispersed camping with my son. I was thinking PA, NY, or VT. I saw a cluster of roads on GAIA in the Allegheny State Forest. I will be traveling in my Tacoma w/ an off road camper-trailer. Not looking for anything crazy, just...

    First GMRS radio

I started off with this set and have been very happy with. I used it for a 20+ rig trip through the woods. I was tailgunner and the leader had the same unit (mxt115). Sound was crisp and clear at all times. Plus this set gives you hand heads you can share with buddies. A radio is only good...
