Looking for a HAM radio with controls/display in hand held mic

So, my current build is a 2023 Subaru Outback. I love this car and it is going to be fun. One issue though is, the interior is not designed to "Add" additional radios and gear. Because it has an 11.6in center mounted touch screen, I can do most stuff like GPS though the touch screen (Android...

Is there anyone renting RTTs? Can you rent a RTT?

For $800 I am going to be better off using a ground tent, or staying hotels, or a mix. Because I travel for work, I have over 1/2 million points with 2 major hotel chains. I can stay for free and mix in some wild camping with the ground tent. We are looking at a trip to Texas this next year...

Changing directions, new 2023 Subaru Outback build

So, for the last several years I have been using Suburbans for my Camping/Overland rigs. I had a 1990 2500, and then a 2008 2500. I still have the 2008 2500, but with the cost of fuel, its size and several other factors, I am going to reserve its use for towing our travel trailer. I needed a...

Is there anyone renting RTTs? Can you rent a RTT?

Normally a Roof Top Tent does not work for my wife and I. We have a big dog that sleeps with us, and we both have joint issues that do not allow a RTT to work for us. However, we are wanting to do a trip with my daughter (30 years old) and her small dog. I have a ground tent and all the needed...

Camp Mini Bike...Enter the Rabbit Hole>>>

Back in the 60s-70s my grandparents had mini bikes called Toat Goats. At the time we lived in California and they road those things all over the place. Lots of fun. I am sure you will really enjoy that bike.

    Subaru Owners Registry

I mentioned a few posts back that I was getting a new Outback for light overlanding to replace the Suburban. Gas mileage is almost 3 times the Suburban. Here is my new 2023 Outback Onyx. Skid plates will be ordered soon, new tires and wheels before the end of the year and I a still figuring out...

    After the Campout

I solved that problem by making a sign/tag that I zip tied to the tent bag that says “tent poles”. That way when I grab the bag, I see the sign an don’t forget the poles.

    After the Campout

BTW, you should also store any tent poles with elastic in them in the extended position so the elastic doesn’t get stretched out. Anything down, uncompressed, anything with foam, uncompressed. Anything wet, completely dried before storage.

No cooler, No refrigerator meal ideas?

Yes, I still have my 2008, I sold the 1990. The ride in the 90 was not good and my wife hated it. And yes we do need to do an adventure together some time.

No cooler, No refrigerator meal ideas?

Well, I am trying. I spend so much time traveling, its hard to find time to, well, travel. I am gone every week somewhere. Just retuned from Fairbanks AK. In Long Beach CA. right now. Because I am always gone, it does make going places when I am off a bit of a challenge. I do plan to do at...

Small Truck, Tall Driver, Crappy Member

Our dog is one of the big reasons we don't do a RTT, that and we are getting old (Arthritis). Going up and down a ladder at night to pee really sucks. Welcome, and for what its worth, the rig looks great.

No cooler, No refrigerator meal ideas?

As you may know, I am not too far away, so yes, apples will be on the list. I know Michael(OB0001) said that they once did a trip to Baja with no cooler, any one else do trips with no cooler/fridge?

...but it's a Subaru Outback?! Build thread.

I am in the process of buying a 2023 Outback Onyx. I was convinced I wanted a Green one, but after seeing your white one, I think the white one I have coming will be perfect. I assume yours is stock height? What size are the KO2s? How bad did they effect your mileage? I love the look of your...

    Subaru Owners Registry

I have a question for the Subaru collective. I currently have an 08 Suburban and my wife has a 2022 Outback. I have been using the Suburban for camping/Overlanding trips. I am keeping the Suburban and I am getting a 2023 Outback for myself (Gas Mileage). I still want to camp/Overland, but use...

No cooler, No refrigerator meal ideas?

This may seem like a silly thing to ask, as I just got my new fridge. However I got that for my 08 Suburban, loads of room. I am keeping it, but adding a 2023 Outback to my fleet. For many reasons a RTT and Ground tent do not work for us, we need to sleep in the car. With this, there is just not...

Oct 7-9 trip around MT Rainier

I wish I could go, that's right in my back yard. However I will be camping at BBQ Flats that weekend. My living room window faces Mt. Clemens.

    A novice, wannabe overlander

That's like asking what's the best drink, to many options and opinions. RTTs are popular, but a big investment. You need to know your own camp/travel style before jumping into an investment like that. They are neither good nor bad, just a tool that works for some, not all. Gazelle tents are...
