    Topkat trailer build DIY

That’s a great little build you’ve got going on.

    2004 WJ Laredo

Found it, fixed it. Vampire (parasitic) draw test confirmed it was pin 10 in C1 to the rear door ajar sensor. No longer getting notification in the overhead and the lights go out when the door is shut.

    2004 WJ Laredo

It's what I have left. I've eliminated everything I can think of except a short on the sensor wire somewhere in the body of the rig between the door and the fuse panel. I know I've got some parasitic draw going on so here's what I'm thinking. Disconnect the C1 and verify that the parasitic...

    2004 WJ Laredo

Harness replaced in the doors with new units. Completely rebuilt the portion that goes through the door with all new wire. Going to test the pin out on the C-1 connector in the fuse block today. My suspicion is now the #10 pin that connects to the rear door ajar sensor on that side rear door...

    2004 WJ Laredo

Finished the body side splice today. Still thinks the back door is open. Man this sucks.

    2004 WJ Laredo

I know it's not a bcm reboot issue. Had the battery disconnected for over a month... What it really could be is the G301 ground by the driver's seat. I've just remembered that when this issue popped up, I'd just been standing on the door sill right by that ground taking my roof bars off...

    2004 WJ Laredo

So I've been fighting with mine to convince it that the rear driver side door isn't open... Replaced the latch in that door, replace the wiring harness in that door. Nothing helped. Found out that it may actually be the driver's door itself that's causing the error. Checked the wires where...

    Homemade Dash Bar

What are you guys using for the bar stock? Need to do one of these for my WJ.

    2004 WJ Laredo

I'll pull the battery to try the reset. Thanks!

    2004 WJ Laredo

Brand new latch unit, brand new wiring harness. It's driving me mad... And right after I got my rear storage system just the way I want it and loaded up with gear for a weekend away.

    2004 WJ Laredo

If that's the one built into the latch, I replaced that with a brand new one as well.

    2004 WJ Laredo

There were no splices to do, I swapped then entire wiring harness in the door. So plugged it in to the connector in the door frame and to the related door connections for latch/window/etc. Windows and locks still works, just thinks the door is open, so the lights stay on and I get the constant...

    2004 WJ Laredo

Alas, mine has developed the issue where it thinks the left rear door is always open. Replaced the latch, replaced the door wiring harness. Not fixed yet. There's a bad wire lurking somewhere between that door and home and it keeps killing the battery. The last 4 days I would have had this out...

    My WJ Drawer System

They're shop fox 26" full extension. Got them from Amazon: Holding up fine. Since I'm really only ever out for a few days at a time, and I pack like I'm still in the infantry, my loads stay light and these are having no issues at all.

    Should I Change Vehicles?

It's the 4.0 engine so it has that going for it. That 42RE tranny is the weak link, but it's never towed or been wheeled hard so it hasn't seen a lot of strain. The typical load on the vehicle is me, my daughter, a couple of kayaks and 2 days of camping gear and some fly rods...

    Should I Change Vehicles?

That's a really good point. Most of what I hit now is within 50 miles or so. I'm lucky to live right on the Green Mountain National Forest boundary so I've got tons of what I like to do nearby. The Jeep being a grand cherokee is actually really comfortable since it only has a 2" lift on it. That...

    Should I Change Vehicles?

The title says it all I guess. I have a lightly built 04 WJ that I use for weekends out in the local national forest. I use it to run forest roads and logging trails to get out to great camping and trout fishing spots. But, it is 15 years old. It was a daily driver for a decade and has 180k...

    2004 WJ Fishing Rig

All put back together from the tank skid replacement. Nice to be trail ready again.

Great looking build you've got going there. I'm in an 04 WJ as well so I may copy some of your stuff as I work on mine!

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Fuel tank skid plate and LED interior light replacement bulbs. Holy bright interior Batman! Now I can actually read a map at night using the map light.
