OB Approved Overland Safety: Fire Extinguishers

when i worked at intel, anytime id go into the datacenter they would remind us we have ~17 seconds until all the air is displaced by the local FM100 / halo*something fire system in the event of an emergency. never been more alert and on edge than working in that room..

Warn winch and bumper for my 19 forester.

after a rallitek spring lift, tires, skid plates, and a hitch.. it was time for a winch. install was straightforward. however i did have to remove and modify the active grill shutter system quite a bit to workaround an engine code. nothing in the install docs or youtubes showed this...

I did the Rallitek springs on the OEM struts shortly after getting my forester. id like to add a 1 inch spacer before the next snow but i agree, not much really to do aside of springs and spacers and maybe struts. For me if money was no concern id replace the struts, control arms, and basically...

    Tow strap vs lift strap/sling

i use a static strap from a local car shop for recovery. after i moved to el dorado county (4000 ft ish) i started to build a kit for helping those stuck on the side of the road. after this last week of snow (2-3 feet in 4 days) i've helped 3 jeeps and 2 passenger cars. the important thing is to...

    Subaru Owners Registry

After i miscalculated the height of my forester and roof top tent (a few times....), i started using my firestik as a height indicator. i marked the high point on the whip so i can use it as a visual reference. its saved me more than once. add a tally for a hard wired antenna. saves my arse...

Thanks guys, that's kind of what i thought. this last trip thru henness pass was full of bigger-than-i-usually-see rocks and i was careful not to go too nuts on them. took my time and whatnot. never felt i needed any protection other than my bfg ko2 and i for sure did not and do not plan on...

    Subaru Owners Registry

Im looking at some under plating, any opinions? i softroad more than anything and am not going too insane in my forester but after a weekend on the dirt i see the value of some protection. a friend suggested i go with the subaru plates and their differential plate. i like how they are cheaper...
