Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
RRT's have their place but I don't think folk think it through thoroughly. If you're looking at staying in a place for more that one day I'd say you certainly want a ground tent as you'll probably drive somewhere.
Cooking is a huge passion especially when it's on a trip over an open fire. Bit of a kit junky too when it comes to cooking methods as in way too many types of stoves and fireboxes. What I take all boils down to the type of trip whether wanting to keep the weight down for longer distance trips...
Yes...I can also confirm the Exped Mega Mat is probably the best out there. Have been using Exped for years...also have their Down Mats for more lighter weight camping.
The porch makes a huge difference when it's wet. I'll tend to use it if away for more than one night and weather looking doubtful. Even just the front hoop makes a difference but the space inside the porch is great for boots, wood, rubbish etc.
Yes, I actually had these fitted to my Hilux so know how bright they are. Reason I've not wired yet is I need to remove the bumper to then remove the winch so I can service it. It works but doesn't free spool as not been used for over 5 years. Th eguy I bought the vehicle from never used it...I...
Here's a video in real time of a guy putting up the 15 man version of the 9 man in the pictures I posted. This is 6 meter diameter and will sit up to 25 for classroom style work or for camping a huge family tent. It has 16 pegs so takes a little longer to put up... 8 1/2 minutes.
I'll be the same...12lt oil and filter, though I've already got a few spare filters. Needs changed every 3000 miles. Last purchase was I got a guy to make a gas bottle holder, to sit on top of the rear alloy box, plus a bar to hold the front spots. They're now fitted but just need to wire them in.
The thing about the tipi tent is it only takes 5 minutes to put up, 5 mins to put away...it's a small pack size and only weighs 14kg. For winter camps I will take the woodburner which is another 15kg and all packs down into a box. What you say at the end is so try....get what fits your style of...
I think the same way unless you're in a country where it's best to be off the ground. Also if you're on the move every day some RRT, the Pop Up type, can be simpler than having to erect and take down a tent everyday plus all the sleeping mats and bags etc. I have since changed vehicles from the...
Have you thought about Tentipi? They do an amazing range of tipis which only take 5 minutes to put up! Plus you have the advantage of having a wood burning stove or even an open fire inside. Full standing height, lightweight for the size and a small pack size compared to other tents of that...
