    The Best Tent Ever, Maybe?

I like the concept. I'll have to give it some consideration. Thanks for the video...do some more when you've had a chance to use it!

It is pricey, but if you use it often enough, you'll get the value out of it. I bought my truck used (with some scratches already on it) and it's a light color, so I don't sweat it much.

Check out Goat Truck Armour. It's magnetic armour you can put on only when you need it. https://www.goat-truckarmor.com/

    1999 LX470 Build Thread

Yeah, Tacoma's not gonna work for that. I have three, and it's a tight fit for them in the back.

    1999 LX470 Build Thread

Sounds like a good "mid life crisis" to me! The older I get, the more I want to get away from everyone (except for a few like minded people). I love my Tacoma, but sometimes think about a 100 series LC / LX 470 to build up.

    2018 Tacoma Offroad

Ok, good to know. I may go that route first. I can always sell the soft top and go to a hard top if I don't like it.

    2018 Tacoma Offroad

How is it sleeping in the back with the soft top? I've been thinking about a Decked system for a platform, and a topper. I like the soft topper for the price, but wasn't sure if I would like sleeping under it compared to a fiberglass top.

    Opinions on decked system

That's the one I was thinking of, but I had no idea it was that expensive!

    Opinions on decked system

I've really contemplated doing one, and using it as a sleeping platform with a bed cap. If you are patient, you'll come across a used one every now and then, usually at a substantial savings. There's also a competitor on the market, although I can't recall the name...might be a little cheaper...

My new Taco! New to me that is...

Congrats! I replaced a 91 Land Cruiser with a 2016 Tacoma TRD OR. I miss the LC sometimes, but the Tacoma sure is nice! I'll probably have another one in the future when it can be more of a weekend toy.

    SE Michigan overland mechanic needed!

If you are capable, I recommend doing it yourself. Google and YouTube should be able to show you enough of what you need to know. If you are not comfortable enough in your skills, then this is a good time to learn. The last thing you want is to be out in the middle of nowhere, and need a basic...

    Toyota Tacoma Registry

Gave up on my old FJ80 Land Cruiser. Decided I would have to invest way more into it than I was comfortable spending to make it reliable enough for extended travel. Found a smoking deal on a low mileage lease return 2016 DCSB TRD OR. Absolutely love it so far! I've only done a handful of small...

    Older wrangler

Depends on what you are going to do with it. The front should be fine, but the Dana 35 can't handle much. It's a C-clip axle, so if a shaft breaks, it's coming out. It's not too hard to upgrade to a D44 from a TJ, or even a Ford 8.8.

My 91 FJ80 with 231k on the clock. It's all stock and has been my daily driver for the 14 months I've owned it. I haven't even had a chance to take it off road yet .

    High mileage rigs?

Mileage doesn't concern me. What I worry about is availability of parts to fix it when something quits. I bought my 91 Land Cruiser with 215k on it (has 230k now), and it runs great. But I know many of the parts for the 3FE are no longer available. I know that it's something that will have to be...
