Ford continued the Light Duty F-250 for awhile after 1998, just under the name F-150 7,700 Package. I had two 2002's at work. Really strong trucks. Great 5.4 V8, overkill transmission, and a super duty rear axle.
I hear ya on parts and everything, explaining to the dealership that the truck...
1. There are several people with the Canyon or Colorado on the forums.
2. There was a shifting "shudder" that I believe GM fixed via a re-flash of the TCM.
3.1 Ford is bring the Ranger back. I believe it will be a 2019 model, so that typically means you could get one in Fall of 2018.
3.2 Nissan...
Yeah check the date. Cause older tires that have been stored incorrectly for long periods of time will get "memory" in the tire.
The tire above would of been made the 16th week in 2012. Typically you don't want a new tire more than a year old (for the common sizes), and I get new tires...

I'm in the same boat. Having a Stepside makes matters worse too. The rear bumpers are smaller.
Most guys I've known over the years have had them made by shops.
Have you thought about possibly using a reciprocating saw pruning blade? Diablo makes a 12" blade. They look pretty aggressive. I've been thinking about getting a few myself.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned is foot protection. You'll be around falling debris and heaven forbid you take a saw to foot. I always wear one of my several pairs of Red Wing boots with a steel toe. I've heard a saw at wide open throttle barely slows down for a composite safety toe. Chainsaw...
