    NW Overland Rally 2020!

My wife and I might camp this year. Does OBNW usually organize a base camp together? I went to the rally years ago, but only on a day ticket

Should I get a second lens and tripod?

Agree w/ old man ^ I went a year or two just shooting with 18-55mm, but earlier this year got a 55-200mm. Best investment ever. Super handy when you stumble upon wildlife, and serves well as a portrait lens. If your not looking to drop a big chunk of change, i recommend checking out keh.com...

    Mt. Rainier - Sunrise Open

What's up dudes My tires didn't actually hit any dirt this weekend, but my hiking boots did. The road to sunrise at Mt. Rainier opened up last week, so we went to explore the area a bit. I normally don't post any hiking related reports on here, but this place is incredible! Highly recommend...

First trip with the family. Trip Report.

Water storage can always be a pain, when traveling with a lot of people. If your route is in the vicinity of a good water source (snow, river, stream, etc) packing some type of water filtration system can be super handy :sunglasses: We have a gravity fed system And we never skip an oppurtunity...

WA - Any “overland” camping recommendations?

WABDR is always a great option, not just for the route itself, but all sections are connected with some cool trail networks We often visit Gifford Pinchot NF too.. there's a lot of random FS roads to get lost on, and plenty of spots to post up camp

    WABDR season

    WABDR season

That would be fun, especially after possibly driving away with new gear from the rally :sunglasses: Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be making the rally this year. My girl and I were planning on hitting section 5 the week before (June 13ish) .. because we're getting married in Chelan that week!

    Evans Creek, WA (Past Carbonado)

Yes 165 is very well maintained. It also provides access to Mowich Lake, which is a part of Mount Rainier Killer views, as almost everything (up to the NP boundary) has been forested. Photo attached from 2 weeks ago NP

    WABDR season

Making a run at sections 4-5 in early June (and maybe section 6) We cruised up a portion of section 5 last Saturday, just shy of Cooper Mountain. No blockage or issues, but we only went a couple miles in. We were just looking for a camp spot for the weekend near Chelan... ended up camping...

    In Search of Boundary

I have hiked near this location, but not all the way North to the border. There is a trail that accesses this area, starting at twin lakes.. I think I remember a gated fire road that headed east from the lakes too. Being that it's Mt Baker Wilderness, the rangers might have some knowledge

    Intoduction/a few questions

Welcome! The Northern Cascades have ALOT to offer, although snow and road closures make access difficult to some parts in the winter. Mt Baker-Snoqualmie has alot of different trail systems and I'd recommend picking up a good topo map and compass... Or GPS if it's in the budget [emoji106]

    Camera Gear, Tires, and Secrets!

Pentax checking in [emoji41] I shoot with a Pentax k70, and it gets killer shots! I went with it because it was the cheapest ASP-C 24mp that is completely weather sealed. Everything in my life needs to have a weather seal haha

    Oregon coast to inland trip

+1 for Lava Tubes, super cool spot. The Newberry Volcanic National Monument is cool too. Great spot to check out, if your taking HWY 97 from Crater Lake to Bend. Weather/Season permitting.. you can drive to the top of Paulina Peak, which has killer views

    Washington Backcountry Discovery Route 2018.

I would be in, but I cant fit these dates in my schedule.. I don't know if anyone has chimed in on Routes 1-2 yet, but they are totally clear. We ran through them last week. And i recommend taking the Bethel ridge route on Section 2, it had some great views with a couple good camp spots I heard...

WABDR Route 2 (Packwood to Ellensburg)

Found a hole in the Calendar this weekend... and thinking about hitting this route, starting early Saturday morning. So far the weather looks clear. My old lady and I were discussing setting up camp on Saturday near Bethel Ridge area. If anyone wants to jump on board let me know! Just kind of...

RTT or ground tent & why

I enjoy having a ground tent, just based on the simplicity of the whole thing. We've got one action-packer bin that is able to hold it all.. tent, sleeping bags, pads, and pillows. We execute all proper food storage procedures to ensure that Bears are not attracted to our basecamp, and we carry...
