Advice needed: Trying to decide between Subaru outback or Forester

I am looking for some advice on which is a better overland vehicle. I currently have a 2005 F-150 and the gas mileage is really bad so I am looking at replacing it with a newer Outback (most likely the 3.6) or a Forester. My wife already has a 2018 Forester and I like it but I am not sure. Any...
