Looking at some mechanical how-to videos as I may need to replace a fuel injector in my L83. One of the videos was like 15 minutes long, 7 and a half minutes was shaky video of the front end of they guys truck and him complaining (I get the complaints). I'm like shouting at my phone "get to...

Ha ha, I see he has his father's verklempt and exhasperated look on his face (judging by dads avatar). To the topic...in a way, it may be good there are fewer social media posts in general, especially if that means more people are out there doing things with their lives that keep them off...

That brings me back to the days when I was driving a 1994 GMT400 full size Chevy Blazer Silverado 1500 5.7 liter When the family and friends all had the annual camping trip, my nephews and nieces would climb on it like that, even on the roof. I remember their mothers yelling at them to get off...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

The shop tells me it is not the dreaded GM L83 AFM lifter failure. No thrown rod. Warped exhaust manifold due to rearmost manifold bolt sheering, and the added air made the computer inject more fuel. Which eventually destroyed the pre-cat, which clogged the cat. The exhaust that could not...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Nice. Gotta say, though, those newer RAM mirrors, where the inside end pivots upward from horizontal sport to vertical tow mirrors, those were a stroke of genius and the designer should be touted

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

It's a GMC 5.3 liter with AFM and 240k miles...this is what I'm looking at. That and a local speed shop for an estimate

Tools you love, cant live without!

Too rich for my blood. Maybe I put some 4x4 lumber behind the step stool feet to help keep the slide in check...but if I ever find a sale on one, I sure will consider it

Ha ha ha! So funny you mentioned lateral forces overcoming friction. No less than 3 times I heard the scrape of step stool feet and wound up with my face staring right close to the battery or brake reservoir. Is that topside creeper real?

Tools you love, cant live without!

Doing some maintenance on my 2014 GMC L83 (v8, 5.3 liter) yesterday. Just over 243 thousand miles on her. I have to stand on the front tire, or get a step ladder and strain my back to get to the spark plugs...or I can jack up the truck, take the wheels and the fender skirts off and go in...

Tools you love, cant live without!

Sure. My '77 z28 was much easier to work on. Even my GMT400 trucks. Those seem to be a sweet spot for me with some tech and still old school in many ways. Introduction of the serpentine belt, yet, most things solved with a socket set and a #2 Philips. I do have to say, though, that shifting...

Central Arizona Mountain Rescue Association can train in WFA. I don't live out there, just googled. Seems like a mountain rescue place probably has good wilderness first aid Mechanic skills, well, you could become an ASE certified mechanic but that'll take a while and you would still have to...
