    Tablet GPS accessories

Like some of the others have said, I've never had a need for an external gps antenna for any of my devices. The only accuracy issues I have noticed are if I am running navigation on my phone throu Google Carplay and the phone is in my pocket facing a direction different than my direction of...

    Tablet GPS accessories

...darn good; better than my ancient Garmin 60C handheld when in an empty field. I tried the OB1 app, but it used up too much of my limited storage space so it had to go. I am a fan of Back Country Navigator (Pro and XE) as well as Avenza and Drive Mode Dashboard (pictured) for navigation apps.

Gaia inreach mini 2 and iPad mini 6 … JUNK

Maybe I’ve been lucky but I’ve had zero issues linking an iPad Air with garmin inreach for the past few years. My buddy has an older garmin with regular IPad and also no issue.

Gaia inreach mini 2 and iPad mini 6 … JUNK

This brings up the general issue of device connectivity. I have found that trying to connect my iPad or iPhone and do anything that requires reliability for off roading is simply futile. The connection will drop, the software will have a bug, or whatever. I find this to be the case with several...

Gaia inreach mini 2 and iPad mini 6 … JUNK

I'm a photographer so I use apple and mac products exclusively. Mine did not have GPS so I just added the $150 Dual unit. I agree I would not buy a ipad just for navigation. Zim

    Device/Navigation Mounting Options

I have an 04 4RNR, and have been trying different options. Just changed from Ram Mounts suction cup at the center of the windshield, to a ball stud on the A puller grab rail. Just curious to see what everyone else has done.

    New to the crew

Based on your travel, I’d suggest the following: higher lift kit – I don't think you need it, the vehicle is one of the best in clearance and approach/departure angles as it is, and any lift affects stability among other things. For the cost of a lift you can buy fuel to get to a lot of...

I would read this article before a lift: https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/interesting-article.43246/ Also you are wanting to do overlanding with the ability to get over some rocks and stairs and such, good, There are several members who have youtube videos on trips and things that...

    Cancelled Monthly Portland meetup

I actually might have some maps that old my mom was quite the Oregon history buff. Well just taking a casual peak at the OB one map it doesn’t even show Browns camp. I search for Browns Camp it says nothing could found be pretty odd for a major OHV area. Or maybe the App is just too complicated...

Old Gold Camp Road won’t show up on a map… unless you find a map from the 1880’s. It runs from Colorado Springs to Rockville.

    Cancelled Monthly Portland meetup

Oh noted. Yes I could easily get around the big trees but some of the boulders require a rock crawler to get over them. When they’re taller than my hood I don’t try to go over them. I just thought they were there to keep people out. I have some videos of them in my social media post Instagram on...

    Cancelled Monthly Portland meetup

Those trees and rocks are called “Gate Keepers”. Have you tried using OB1 to see the trails… download “browns camp” area for offline use, then you don’t have your navigation issues when you loose cell service. Having spent 6 years living in Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Canon City...

US West East Bay Monthly Meet Up - Pleasanton Ridge regional park CA - AUGUST MEET up moved to Aug 20- OLD THREAD

8 days ago it was a little washed out but passable with some clearance / 4wd and careful navigation. We did however advise a brandnew sprinter van to turn around due to offcamper / tree branches as he had small tires and high center of gravity. Have fun Armin @TrailHawkGuy ---- Next EastBay...
