I think this is part of your problem. If you're running the intake outside, it's pulling warm/humid air from outside to cool, and pumping it in. You want the intake air to be from within the shell (like running the "recirculate" mode on your dash AC). Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but...
So, what has become of this thing? In short, nothing good. It's a constant cycle of one step forward, two steps back.
I don't even know where to begin, and there have been so many issues I probably wouldn't even remember them all. But we battled with overheating (always shut it down before...
I guess it's time for an update, though not much has changed. As with all rigs, there's always room for refinement and sometimes things do break. To the later point, I thought the original turbo was going out. The VGT actuator is a common failure on these rigs, and my entire turbo and VGT...
Take a look at this thread I started: If you're going to ask "what vehicle is best..."
I don't mean that as a knock, or to be snide, and I know you covered *some* of the questions there. Still, we need to know a lot more about your budget and needs to really narrow it down. "Affordable" to one...
Congrats. I really like the 5th Gen 1500s with the 5.7/8spd. I had a '19 that was a great truck (custom ordered with the larger fuel tank too... if yours doesn't have that I bet you can retrofit it with all OEM parts). For some reason the 1500 RAMs seem massively overlooked in Overlanding...
Some good answers here already. In general, I'm with @North American Sojourner that generally you will find "the same folks you meet every day." However, thus far I'd say there's one big exception or difference. While you'll find folks from just about every walk of life, the "Overlanders"...
I agree. I think the Overland community has way overestimated the need for crazy/complicated IFS/air bag whatever trailer suspensions. Yes, they do provide some advantages, but the cost and complexity is totally unnecessary for 99% of Overlanders IMHO.

Well, I'm long overdue for an update here. I really wanted my next post to be a picture of me out in the WJ camping, but with a lot of other things going on in life it just hasn't gotten there yet. I will say, things are much closer, yet the update is more or less the same: more...
Congrats on the new rig, looking forward to the continued build! I'm a big fan of a full size and FWC myself. If I was starting from scratch today, I'd get something very much like your rig (though it'd be hard for me to pass up the 7.3 because I'm a big power guy at heart). I have a regular...
Well, I was late signing up as I thought I'd be out of the country in April, but plans change. @Edward Hard it looks like the event is full, but perhaps I can tag along. As I mentioned above I've run that area a fair amount so I'm familiar with it and I'm fully self-sufficient. Happy to help...
To be clear, I am not the OP/organizer and am not speaking for them/this event. However, I've done the run through Gold Butte, Grand Canyon Parashant Paiute Wilderness, etc. from Mesquite out to St. George many times. My short answer would be "no." The longer answer, is it really depends on...
That makes no sense. Gears provide torque multiplication, and impact the engine RPM for a given speed/gear (as in, what gear in the trans you're in) combination. Gears do not change the actual "bottom end power" aka low-RPM torque an engine products, just when/how it is accessed. You can gear...
Agree completely. Every big rig rolling down our highways has a turbo (okay, other than the Tesla semis) and have several hundred thousand mile intervals on top and refreshes and often a million+ for a complete overhaul. Yes, completely apples to oranges vs. the Stellantis 2.0T, but an engine...
