Reviews of brand new products crack me up and probably most of us. I want to know what works well and lasts a long time. We bought our first Trasharoo in 2017. When it wasn’t on one of our journeys it was hanging in the garage. We probably used it 12 weeks a year. I treated it with Nixwax 1-2 times per year. That Trasharoo lasted until 2022. I thought, five years? Not bad. We purchased our current Trasharoo the spring of ‘23 in preparation for our run to Tuk. That was 9 weeks, then in ‘24 another 10 weeks. Again, it lived in the garage the rest of the year and was treated 1-2 times that year. In 2025 we began full timing. The bag has failed miserably after 10 months of being used full time. Dry Rot would be the culprit. My honest advice? If one is a weekend warrior, or a part time traveler get yourself a Trasharoo. It’s a good bang for the dollar, as they are currently selling for around $50. If you are going out for a few months a year or are full time? Find something else. The high end tire trash/storage bags are upwards of $200. They are made of the same tarp material, PVC that flat bed haulers use. I had PVC tarp on our old expo trailer that was 20 years old and in excellent shape when I sold the trailer. I’m purchasing one of these type bags this time around. I’ll give a solid review of it in 5-6 years. Here is a link. I’m Out

IMHO, I have the Rhino USA 25 gallon and it was only $48. Lifetime warranty replacement to boot! So even if it doesn’t last 5 years, and as long as the company is still open, I get a new one. Yes quality is still very important but standing behind your product is just as important.
Again…opinion. Something’s I will buy cheaper if it’s not critical and don’t care if I have to replace it 2 times. The cost is still cheaper than the high $ product which most likely will fail too.
So I roll the dice and except the results!

Agreed. The bag I’ve ordered has a lifetime warranty as well. If we were still part timing, I’d just buy another Trasharoo or any other inexpensive brand and be happy with 5 years of use. Full timing it can be difficult getting warranty items replaced and coordinating drop shipments.

Side question, anyone us a bag on their tailgate? What do you do to protect the paint?

Jim

Ive had the same Trasharoo Bag since 2008. No complaints on it really. I always put a large black rubbish bag in it as I'm abit of a germaphobe so dont like liquids splashing around in it. I have only had a TJ Jeep that I could hang it from the tire on, all other cars including my wifes Dodge Caravan, I throw it in the back when moving or hang it at the site when camping.

Not a Germaphobe and we have always used a black trash bag as a liner- even use heavy clips to hold it in place. 2008? Must have been a good year for canvas QC!

had mine for about 2 years now mounted on the spare tire carrier. it's held up surprisingly well considering it's basically always exposed to the elements. the zippers still work fine and the mesh hasn't torn. my only complaint is that when it rains everything inside gets soaked, so i started putting a small trash bag liner inside and that solved it. also works great for dirty recovery gear or muddy boots when you don't want that stuff inside the rig. for the price it's one of those accessories that just makes sense for overlanding. beats having a bag of trash rolling around inside the jeep.
