Good morning, I don't see anything at this point that will keep me from our trip in May, so I'm good to go. It looks like OkieDavid, Offroadnutz and I +1 makes up the group for May. If there are others, please chime in.

Okay, I'm headed down the GMRS path. As with most things I do it has become overwhelming to figure out which radio is best for my use. Could you recommend a brand, power level and useful features to consider? My initial use will be overlanding/off-roading, are there other uses I should consider when making a selection? For me it’s GMRS.
If you want brain dead simple, I would recommend the Midland MicroMobile 15-watt radio (MXT275). I have the 50-watt version but it's overkill for group trips; I often go alone and wanted the most reach I could get. Another option if you just want to test the waters, is the Radioddity GM-30 GMRS handheld. It's only 5-watts, and I have had issues where in large groups the tail and the lead couldn't talk to each other because they were so spread out but I could hear it on my radio but in smaller groups it works just fine and it's only $25. I carry it along with the Midland permanently mounted so that when I get out to spot I can also talk on the radio if needed.Okay, I'm headed down the GMRS path. Do you know about what the gross weight of your rig will be fully loaded?I only have about 4000 miles on these and so far so good. I have used them in the past before switching to all terrains. and loved them.
With all the sandy ground we will be traversing, I may regret the MT's though.
