I have been wheeling mostly the west region for about 30 years when I bought my Jeep YJ which I still have and use! It is now primarily a rock crawler and used for the more technical trails. I have owned my Dodge since 2000 and it started out as a tow vehicle with a slide-in camper. Once the family grew, we sold the slide-in and bought a Class C RV. I absolutely missed my slide-in as it allowed me to access more remote locations. The need for remote locations prompted me to design and build my own camper. I needed it be full time on the truck and not stored. Since the construction of the shell portion, I have done a lot of wheeling with the truck and have enjoyed the creature comforts that the Jeep cannot provide.
