    Montana bound

From near Challis, Idaho off 93, you can drive up Morgan Creek Road to the pass of the same name , Panther Creek Road is the road after the pass but same route, then turn east onto Salmon River Road. Last September, we had the place to ourselves as rafting season was done. Beautiful easy drive...

How We Learn About the Places We Go

These are some great questions. We usually look for historical POI on Benchmark Atlases then do online research. Sometimes, we stumble upon an historical marker so I note it on my Benchmark Map on Avenza app then look it up when we get a signal. Usually, the marker has quite a bit of info. We...

    Photography

I have been shooting since I was a kid off and on. We use our Overlanding trips to discover landscapes to shoot. I also do some concert photography but not as much as I used to. I have always used Nikon but other brands are good, too. We are headed out next Sunday minus my 24-70mm due to a drunk...

    Old mines, ghost towns, etc......

Love to explore old mining sites and ghost towns. We have camped next to cemeteries and inside ghost towns. We do respect and honor these hard working folk. There was a notebook at one in Nevada listing the manner in which they died. Fascinating. Photo is at Coolidge in Montana.

    The Ultimate Overland Checklist

Thanks for the list, meal ideas, etc. Since we have a pop up truck camper,we can pack more. It does t mean we do, but items are more readily accessible. Also, we have two dogs so it’s like packing for twin toddlers. I found a great lantern while shopping that is built tough and lots of light...

Montana Road Trip: Coolidge, Helena and Argo Mine

We were there last September. Beautiful area. Very extensive settlement. I like Coolidge better than Bannock State Park as Coolidge us more authentic in the sense that it is t being preserved. Fewer people, too. Have you been to Ross Creek ancient forest? Thanks for the memories.
