Might be a good idea to get an estimated weight of everything you'll have on the truck.
If you'll have it loaded most of the time the heavy springs might be better. If you only add all mentioned items on for trips, the medium rate springs will be the way to go. Also depends on off road travel...
Haven't done much, relatively new there, but from what I've been told/reading up on it's pretty difficult. There is some off roading but only at parks and such, I know many people prefer to go south into france.
Take a look at a backpackers guitar, don't have one but they are small so don't take up much space. Maybe a local music store might have one you could try out.
