Wanted to do overlanding my whole life, inspired by the Camel Trophy rovers and cheesy adventure movies (Mad Max and Crocodile Dundee may even have had a part in it).
Finally broke down and bought a Disco 2. Always been one of my favorite vehicles ever made. Yeah, I know they’re ticking timebombs. Gave it a top end rebuild, and I am slowly outfitting it right now. I’m saving up to do an LS swap ASAP. But it’s running smooth with no check engine lights, so that’s nice. Enough to get me started.
More of a weekend warrior right now. Just getting out there and seeing nature, weekend camping, day trips on fire roads, etc. just learning the ropes.
Exploring the southeast right now, about to move to the northeast for a few years, and then on to the next adventure. Wish I’d had this rig when I was living in the PNW (used a Volvo XC70 back then - didn’t get to take as rowdy of terrain back then).
