When I started I would just drive my 1988 Ford laser to trail heads and walk most the way.
Nowadays I have a good mostly stock 4wd and my old bush walking gear. Which still works fine.
But I keep looking at most accessories for 4wds and thinking "that's just an expensive piece of kit thats...
The only thing I could think of, would be to rig up a heavy canvas tarp above the tent to take the bulk of the hail. But I'm not an expert.
I would love to know if anyone out there has a proven solution.
Honestly I would be reluctant to be out in that sort of weather. I doubt golf ball sized hail stones would peirce a tent. They may pummel it flat.
Also I'm pretty sure that sized hail is where it starts denting vehicle panels and occasionally breaking vehicle windows.

Carrying Firearms is not really a thing where I live.

So this is my "cooking for one" set up. It's just my old hiking stove, and Esky (Ice Box, Chilly Bin) & I have a Jetboil for morning coffee. It all fits into a wolfpack box with a heap of non perishable food.
If I'm Cooking for a few people I will grab a cast iron camp oven & maybe a Weber...
Interesting food for thought. Generally when I'm out and about I do tend to be in holiday mode, so I could certainly benefit from more active situational awareness.
I'm lucky not to live anywhere with any apex predators. We have a few nasty critters about but you learn quickly how to keep out...
