Good point Fishincrzy on the force that pedals and crank arms take.

    Bike Pedals - Quick Release?

Road: While I don't have direct experience with the quick release, EBR forum members seem to use these in addition to MKS . https://www.lixada.com/p-y6994.html Actually thanks for bringing this forth. I have a folder that these would work on better than the Wellgo fold away ones that I...

    What Jeep Wrangler to get?

I wouldn't part with my 04 TJ for the world - so a TJ would be my vote. Be careful of frame rust. Look for a west coast one. But TJ's are holding their value. A good one is going to cost a lot more than 5-8K. Here's a great forum centered on TJ's only - Jeep Wrangler TJ Forum . Or CJ's if...

    SVO ....Small Vehicle Overlanding

FYI Plasmajab, in the 225/60/17 size there are basically only two "mild" A/T tires: 1. The GO15's that Lunch Box refers to. 2. Continental TerrainContacts Both get good reviews, with the TerrainContacts a little better. The GO15's are snowflake rated, the Conti 's are not yet. When I say...

    Needles, Canyonlands UT

Thanks Mogwai and Anchor Mtr. I figured that would be the case. While it's already got its share of front scrapes, the crappy approach angle and no low range is a deal breaker. Great in sand and snow, but not much of rock crawler. I leave that up to my Jeep TJ. Thx again.

    Needles, Canyonlands UT

Love the Needles District plus Capitol Reef NP - some of my favorite places in the world that I've been to. I try to get down there at least once a year - could spend weeks hiking/backpacking the Needles. I take my somewhat moded Subaru Crosstrek (skids, KO2's, a little lift). I'd take my...

    Oregon BDR in June

Thanks FJTim for the update. I'm doing a modified rt 3 next week starting at and going down 21 from Oakridge to the Summit Lake area and then south on 2154 and 700. I'll be sure to check in at the Oakridge NFS station prior. That area always seems to get winds and thus fallen trees plus there...

    Anyone use Avenza?

Yes, I would prefer both on Apple. But presently I'm using a iPad 3 (IOS9) which Gaia supports but Avenza doesn't (they're 10). I could use both on the Android 6 tablet I have, but prefer Apple, especially the devices. I probably will break down and upgrade to a newer Apple tablet, but I'm...

    Anyone use Avenza?

UPDATE: Recently I have had "dealings" with both GAIA and Avenza. I have to say that BOTH are great in their customer service. And I mean great - Nathan (GAIA) and Rebecca (Avenza) have been so patient with me. I use Apple for GAIA and Android for Avenza. I also agree with both 1Louder...

    Crater Lake Oregon

Part of route 3 of the Oregon Back Country Discovery Route is just west of Crater Lake. Runs north and south. You'd have to buy the map from OBCDR. Or just get some MVUM's (paper from a NFS location or on the Avenza app) and wing it. It's mostly national forest in that area.
