My advice to you would be to take whatever you like and will enjoy. Driving all day on rough backcountry roads is tiring and at the end of the day it’s nice to relax and have a nice meal.

the pic shows the type of things I usually take. Everything’s pre made and ready to eat. I used to do the fridge and cook everything but moved away from that the last 2 years or so. Mostly out of sheer laziness and partly out of saving money and space. The only time I cook now is in the winter...

Around 5500lbs total with me and the dog included.. Im also more minimalist. No fridge, no oven, no rtt, no drawer system, etc… And my sleeping platform with under storage is mostly made of cedar so its light too.

My plan was to camp somewhere north of Las Cruces on Saturday, then somewhere around Crazy Cook on Sunday then just explore the area until meet up.

I only have about 4000 miles on these and so far so good. I have used them in the past before switching to all terrains. and loved them. With all the sandy ground we will be traversing, I may regret the MT's though.

Well I got the XJ pretty much done except for the rocksliders. Those should be here next month and I will be ready to go.. .

Last year I bought a cheap tire carrier rear bumper for my wife’s XJ off of amazon for $500. This is her backup vehicle, never sees offroad, and is seldomly even drivin. For these reasons I wanted a lower cost alternative to the $1500 Smittybuilt I have on my XJ. . . I like the looks and...
