I wish we could go. My wife and I made it there a couple years ago and had a blast. I'll be camping and doing a 2 day gravel bicycle race in TN. that weekend.
We've had a T4 for a couple years now and love it. It's normally just my wife and myself so we can set our bags and gear inside with us and still have space to change clothes without stepping on our bedding.
The ease and speed of setup alone are worth the investment.
My wife and I are heading to Badlands and Balck Hills in just a few more weeks. Finding cool campsites is part of the fun, and we've researched a few, but it got me to thinking. Anyone have
any info on places to avoid in the Black Hills area? There could be any number of reasons, but if you've...
Jeeps are simple. Turn the radio up until you don't hear "that noise" any longer.
If by some great fortune nothing is broken at a given moment you're either upgrading something, planning an upgrade, or in the process of breaking something.
My daughters both have TJs and my wife drives a JKU. Start with lifting the front end up and see if you have any pay in the ball joints by pushing/pulling on the to of each wheel. You shouldn't have any movement.
If the ball joints check out, look at tie rod ends and the drag link.
I'm not...
Second vote for Nitto Trail Grappler. We moved to them last time and plan to stick with them. They've been great on rocks. I hate mud but they've performed well enough in it.
No sidewall issues so far. I rotate them regularly but they don't seem to need it as often as some others we've run...
Our M416 build has a space on the tongue to carry a 20# propane cylinder. Our cook station and fire pit are used on the rear driver side. I'd really like to have a flexible connection at the tank and hard-pipe to the rear of the trailer where I could mount a quick connect.
Has anyone done this...
I had read that other places as well, but in interest of keeping the footprint small I opted to put my mixer inside. I'm just hoping that it can get sufficient air to do its job. Hopefully we can find out next weekend.
Our rig is a small M416 trailer with a roof top tent and we're pulling it with a 4 door Wrangler. There are only the two of us and the dog, but space and weight are still a high priority. I've seen the Ignik, and a few other ammo can fire pits and really like them more than the larger style...
We bought ours from someone who already did all of the work. We're buying stuff and planning some additional modifications right now for a couple of big trips this year. The extended tongue and tongue box are a must.
The previous owner added a diesel heater in the tongue box as well. On demand...
Revolution 4.56 gears. Powertrax Grip pro for the front and a Yukon Duragrip for the rear. I just wanted to change gears to facilitate pulling our trailer, but things got out of control.
I prefer to be alone or just me and the wife. She's by far the more social of the two of us and enjoys being around folks, but as long as she can get to water, moss, or mountains she's content. Fewer people = fewer issues. I will make exceptions if I am traveling with the intent to mountain...
The Ka-Bar Companion lives in our rig. It must be made from a leaf spring. It has a very thick, strong blade, it's heavy, and holds an edge. Its not fancy, but it's robust. I feel like I could drive tent stakes with it or cut down a small tree and it would be none the worse for wear.
My EDC is...
