    Headsets

I like cloth ear seal covers for the heat. They don't stop the heat but help some of the stickiness. If you want to try some, let me know and I'll send you a pair.

    Headsets

Well, I wouldn't say it's an unpopular opinion, but maybe a little misinformed. Coming from someone that has a lot of experience wearing a helmet, or headset, or ear plugs, etc., in all sorts of vehicles... I get what you're saying. But I think what people don't realize is that a headset does...

    GMRS

FCC rulings are a lot like the bible... at the end of the day, name of the game is, be nice.

Let's see those rigs in action

I'll play... one playing on the beach, another as the worlds most expensive charcuterie board when a head gasket blew in Baja :)

    Headsets

Any of our (Rugged Radios) intercoms can be interfaced with just about any radio, including Midland. Talking inside the vehicle is automated and transmitting over the radio is done by pressing a Push To Talk button. Communications in high-noise environments is our specialty and I can tell you...

    Camp coffee!

We use a Nespresso on the trail... yes. We spoil ourselves. Haha! The upside is pretty damn good coffee anywhere we are. The downside is, we had to put a giant inverter in the car... then more good news. We can run just about anything we want on AC!

    GMRS ON-ROAD Channel

We always use GMRS 19 on the open road. It's an easy carryover from the CB glory days. We even stick it on the cars for big trips to encourage calls and some friendly banter.

    iPhone SOS

I have an iPhone 13. When out of cell service is usually says "SOS" in the upper right hand corner of the display where the signal reading usually is and the phone says something like, "SOS service only"... not sure what the 14 says when out of service. Regardless, good stuff!

    Handheld or Permanent HAM?

This is not a bad way to go. It's certainly more versatile. I have a lot of customers that use a handheld in vehicles , connected to a roof-mounted half wave antenna with great results.

    Why Ham over GMRS?

    Likewise, brother!

Garmin inReach mini 1 versus 2

I used a gen 1 all over the western USA and Baja California… always served me well. The only reason I upgraded to the 2 is for the push notifications through the app. That and, I figured it would be easier to sell the originals now versus a few year down the road. BTW, if anyone wants a gen...

    Why Ham over GMRS?

I haven’t read the rest of the thread, bit here’s my input: I’m licensed Ham and think it’s one of the best forms of radio communication.. if you’re willing to put work into it! Yes. That’s the same for any hobby. Ham is no different. But, what I use most often is GMRS. Simply because...
