NA Mexico Baja, post Hurricane Hilary

We had a great time exploring Northern Baja California just a few weeks after Hurricane Hilary caused so much damage. The further south we went the more apparent the hurricane damage, although by the time we got there the roads/trails were all passable. Here's a collection of videos that...

Baja for the next few days!

We've been planning a 3-week, mostly off-road, trip starting middle of September for months now. I'm guessing that it will take a lot longer than a month to make many of the damaged dirt roads passable, so it's probably time to pivot and make new plans. Nevertheless, can anyone point me to a...

Memorial Weekend Berryessa Snow Mountain NM

Here are a couple of vids from our Memorial Weekend trip exploring a small part of Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument near Clear Lake. We did have an interesting hail storm to weather, but made it through safely.

CA West Canada The Whipsaw Trail

Here are a couple of vids from our August run of the Whipsaw Trail in BC. We started in Princeton, and, because we were pulling the trailer, we traveled the supposedly easier counter-clockwise direction on the trail. Having completed it unscathed I think either direction would be great.

    Rock Lights? Are they useful?

I have a set and I would say they're only useful if you need them. That sounds facetious, but if you're on the trail at night and need a spotter they're very useful. I usually try to set up camp before dark and don't feel the need to use them in camp - appropriately positioned magnetic...

    Mojave Road 12/27-30

We ran part of Mojave Road over Thanksgiving. The sections we did were all in good condition, although the Drop Dead V-notch was more like dirt moguls than we have experienced in the past. You can get a feel for the road conditions in this video.

He loves it. It's easy to get on and off and keeps him warm on those cold desert nights.

Who else brings a grill?-1 cooking device to rule them all!

I always bring the Weber Go-Anywhere Gas Grill. Easy to pack and works well.

    Mojave Thanksgiving

I'm only aware of two trails to Kelso Dunes, one off of Kelbaker Rd at Kelso Depot and Kelso Dunes Rd of Kelbaker Rd south of Kelso Depot. I'm pretty sure that Kelso Dunes Rd is accessible by RVs, and if you can drive in sand the trail out of Kelso Depot should be fine.

    Mojave Thanksgiving

If you're planning to do the full length of Mojave Rd then extra fuel is essential. I've run it in both directions and the climbs (in both directions) significantly impact fuel usage. On this trip I actually refueled twice (at the Mail Box and at the Keystone Canyon camp), but if I had emptied...
