So after a few days decompressing from ~2400 miles we covered in 16 days on the TAT from Ripley WV to AR/OK border a few things to mention. The AR leg was full of surprises. The Warloop Rd events already mentioned, but we also saw our first bear on the trail that same morning as we departed...

TAT 1 did not hit the road closed and we are in front of TAT 2. We downloaded the detour tracks from this forum and had them loaded into our Gaia so we had the work arounds. Mrprez posted the tracks on post number 395 April 16, page 20.

Breaking for lunch at an old church. Talked to the caretaker, Frank Elder, and he gave us a quick tour. Beautiful building.

Today was our firsts backtrack. After driving out a long way on the south toe river road, we ran into a road closed condition. Had to backtrack all the way to the BRP. Not too bad, it all part of the adventure, but it threw us off our timeline and we wound up spending the night in an Ingles...

Another option if you know where you will be is to have it shipped to “general delivery” in the town where you will pick it up. The post office will have it there if you show id. Not nearly as convenient as Neal’s offer, but an option. Hope you get the runner fixed in time, it would be a bummer...

So our storage system is in. We came across a plan for a sleeping platform (shout out to gxbasecamp.com) using 8020.net extruded aluminum. I love this stuff; light weight strong and actually fun, no power tools required. We used the plan as a basis and extended it into a 3 tier storage shelves...

Also the NP Pass has a lifetime pass option for “seniors” >=60/62 for $80 bucks; they will apply the credit for what you have paid on an annual pass too.

I picked the pavement route so I would not disturb our TAT following. Thought we could jump over and come back to re-join the TAT where we left off. Since I am not a “qualified or have any knowledge“ about CO and this area I would have to defer to the CO experts. I can always add this NP on...
