Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia and Pennsylvania, I fell in love with the outdoors through tent camping in remote, rugged spots with my parents. Those trips felt like true adventures in the middle of nowhere. As my parents shifted to camper and RV camping, the charm of crowded campgrounds and parking lot sites dulled my passion for the outdoors. That spark reignited during my time as a Marine Corps Infantryman. Though "camping" in the Marines was often grueling, it took me to incredible places, Deserts in theMiddle Eastern, the Rocky Mountains, Okinawan jungles, tropical islands, and beyond. Those experiences, however tough, reminded me why I loved nature.
After leaving the Marines, I vowed to rediscover the outdoors on my terms. I bought my "ideal" overlanding rig, a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ, and dove headfirst into off-road adventures. That Jeep taught me everything the importance of route planning, off-road driving on different terrains, and more mechanical skills than I’d care to admit, as I replaced nearly every suspension and steering component over its 10-year run.
Now, I’m behind the wheel of a 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss with a 3.0L Duramax diesel. It’s a beast with massive low-end torque and impressive fuel efficiency, perfect for both overlanding and daily driving. I’m always chasing the next trail, eager to explore and share the journey with this community.
