    Upcoming Trip- Vehicle Advice

If you are looking in the $5k range, you won't get much in the Toyota and Land Rover world. Look for Chevrolets and Fords instead and you can probably find something that will do what you want. This was $2750 in pre COVID dollars with 300k miles on it so probably $5k in todays dollars. I...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Truck slide for the bed. No one makes one for an H3T but the Gladiator version was close enough.

Truck slide installed. Nobody makes one for a H3T. One for a Jeep Gladiator was close enough.

I Need Help with Really Rough Shaking Start

Mostly warm starts. A hot start would usually sputter once or twice and run fine. If it sat for a few days it would usually crank normally. If you shut it down for 30 minutes to run in the grocery store it would fire on 3-4 cylinders until it cleared the extra fuel out of the intake. It started...

I Need Help with Really Rough Shaking Start

Change your injectors. My XJ did the same thing. It turned out it had an injector that was leaking raw fuel into the intake when the engine was off. I was at 260k miles so I replaced all of the injectors and that solved the problem.

    Camp Photos!

This one is a little cheaty and more glamping than camping. It's about 40 minutes from home so no long trek was made. There wasn't a tent involved or even 4WD. I slept in a king-size bed in a 40' motorhome parked in a field. It was, however, very peaceful and relaxing. And the sunrise in the...

    Canada?

On my last trip into Canada, I used my T-Mobile phone with no issues. Coverage was very good and maintained 4G for 90% of the trip. There was no setup requirement nor an additional charge. If you have a T-Mobile phone, it's already included in your plan. Mexico is also covered.

    Be careful with recovery

That video is worse than useless. What broke? Why did it break? How can it be avoided in the future? 15 minutes tops. Anything more than that is therapy and should be discussed with your counselor.

    first timer questions

I run Gaia on an 8" tablet for mapping. Downloading entire states is extremely easy, as is downloading routes and POIs. It has worked very well for the almost 10 years I've been using it. I also carry a Garmin 7" GPS and have OB1 on my phone for backup and additional information. For creating...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

This is the best camping light I've ever owned. Need task lighting while cooking? Done. Directional lighting that sticks to your vehicle while changing a tire? It's perfect. Nightlight for your 5-year-old? Yep, it does that too. Batteries that last? 9 hours on high or 40 hours on low. It will...

    New 2024 Taco OffRoad

I'm 56 and have gotten tired of always working on things. Always sleeping on the ground and dealing with the dirt. Now the rig is towed behind a 40' DP motorhome. We frequently base camp and spend time exploring around us. If I'm going to get 9 mpg, I'm going to be comfortable when I get there...
