Just saw your reply sorry. I would have to say the biggest tip I could give you is, walk every crossing before you cross it and bring a chainsaw I used mine for downed trees more time than I could count.

We had a big turnout to the ride yesterday and everyone had a great time!

There is a local Facebook group for y’all it’s Alabama overland southeast. I would go check that out the guys and gals in that group tend to stay pretty active.

I always felt when I first started off doing this sort of thing that I needed a ton of gear and that I needed to spend all this money on fancy tents and all that. My tip for you would be to take what you have and go out and explore Bienville NF right next to you. Figure out what makes it easiest...

Unfortunately it is private land and I can’t. I get permission to go out there when I do and to have the occasional meet up.

This was just a day trip. But I would like to do an overnighter.

I think I might try to put something as big as this together once a quarter depending on attendance. Might have to do it twice a year.
