Mineral Creek area (south of Ouray) had some great spots. Halfway up Imogene was an incredible spot. There's some stuff a little ways up on the way to Engineer Pass. Along Dexter Creek just north of Ouray too. There's a bunch of spots up by Angel Creek Campground area. Just got back from there...

Being from MN, I've wanted to do that trail, we are also planning on this fall. So I'm going to follow any advice you get. :)
