    Well, my Coleman died

Similar situation here. Our Coleman (likely older than me) is giving up the ghost. As I was reading your post I was hoping you had discovered a hidden gem. Sigh.. now I'm going to have to go look at the Partner 22 again. Dangit.

    The Perfect Camp Stove

Glad to see this topic pop up as I was coming here to search this exact topic. I think we're ready to retire the old Coleman two burner that might actually be as old as me. One burner is really weak and the other is a scorcher. I could probably tear it apart and refurb it, but we don't really...

    Overlanding clubs in Georgia?

Tell more about the Waggy. I had a '90 Waggy until we moved to GA and couldn't get it through emissions and didn't have a good place to work on it.

    Night Shots of Camp

I can't remember if I downloaded a different camera app or not, but I know I had found a way to do manual settings, so I was tinkering with everything. These are the two best of about 10-15 attempts. Ha

DIY trailer build - battery in trailer or vehicle?

Thanks for all the replies here. Great useful feedback, for sure. Love the drawing of the layout @Boucher ! The more I think about how we will use a trailer (at least initially), we will mostly be doing 1-3 night 'drive to destination --> set up base camp --> roam around in tow vehicle', so...

US Rocky Mountain Gillette WY Summer of 2024

Whew.. Gillette isn't really close to much of anything. ha. Been out there hunting in the area a few times and we have to stay in Buffalo or Sheridan (AirBnB type stuff). As already mentioned, you'll likely go through Black Hills and all the associated stuff to do in that area as well as the...

Do you "pack light" or heavy?

I'm sure we pack 'heavy' compared to what we actually use/need, but I'm firmly in the "just in case" camp. Hopefully as we get more trips under our (family of 4) belt, we'll narrow down the bulk of the 'just in case' items. The problem is, with a Silverado, you can almost always squeeze 'one...

    Overlanding clubs in Georgia?

There are a couple of overlanding groups on Facebook. North Georgia Overlanders and Georgia Overlanders (or something like that). Not sure if that qualifies as a 'club' that you're looking for.

    Night Shots of Camp

Oh man.. I love this kind of stuff. Don't know why, but night photography just seems like a whole 'nother level for some reason. Hoping to get some actual 'camp' shots this weekend, but here are a couple I snapped with my phone on an impromptu Joshua Tree visit while in the area for work a few...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Not today, but Sunday I fired the Jeep (TJ) up for the first time in nearly a year, washed it up, knocked the cob webs down inside and drove it around town. Heading to get the emissions checked on it this afternoon before any new CIL's come on. Goal is to NOT let it sit that long again on new tags.

My DIY offroad utility (base camp) trailer

Bumping this to see if you've made any other progress through the summer/fall?

DIY trailer build - battery in trailer or vehicle?

How are you charging from the vehicle - are you running through a 7-pin connector or are you running a more dedicated line from the alternator to get more juice back there?

Thanks! Back in college, I dated a girl from Malmo, Sweden. Didn't last long enough for me to go to visit her family there though. ha.

DIY trailer build - battery in trailer or vehicle?

What kind of power setup (if any) do you have on your trailer? I like the brakes idea, too, especially with the TJ - easier to get the cart before the horse with that short wheelbase. Are you doing electric brakes or surge brakes on the tongue?

Chris Jones 2014 Silverado / 2003 Jeep TJ Georgia Been off-roading (legally) and been camping.. looking to merge the two a bit into more 'exploratory camping opportunities'.
