    How would you start over?

I have a 2018 4Runner TRD Off-Road. If I were starting all over and going a non-Sprinter van route, I'd start with the very same car. Is my opinion that the combo of Mechanical Reliability and ALL the options/mods available to 4Runners makes the 4Runner the ideal American overland vehicle. If I...

    Overlanding/camping while mountain biking

This is my hardtail and a 1UP bike rack. The rack came recommended from this forum, and I share that recommendation. I too have been bitten by the e-mtn bike bug, just in time for inventories to plummet to zero...so I wait.

Who here plans Overland trips around Fishing?

This sounds awesome and from one newbie FlyFisherman to another...have a blast! Hire a guide for a day, I've learned how from them and it was always worth the $.

    4Runner Lift Question

It would drive me crazy being mismatched or having unequal quality front and rear, I'd just wait. I've no desire to ever sell my vehicle now that I've put so much time, $, attn, and memories into it. I'm a long term hold so if it were me I'd just order and wait...

New ford bronco capabilities. Is jeep in big trouble?

Bronco, if only you were a little bigger. Turned out smaller than I'd hoped it would be... (you too Land Rover Defender!)

    Overlanding/camping while mountain biking

I am also searching for the same. We don't have much in TX regarding back country camping. I've had success in NewMexico finding trails and camping. Typically I look for trails in National Parks/Forests and then that opens the camping options up. I'm looking to do some Durango CO area...

    E Mountain Bikes

Can you help me with your rack set up? Looks like a 1Up but I can't quite tell. Also, I'm interested in what extensions you are using to get it out past your rear bumper and all that's attached to it.

Best places to go in north new Mexico!

If you still want to head to Northern NM, I've a few spots. Coming from Houston its a drive but I always find it worth it. This pic was taken at a great camp spot near Jemez Springs. The little profile pic was taken in Chama on a fly fishing trip. Recommend both. Agree with the above sentiment...

    Redarc or ...?

I second the notion on Victron, in my post above I described what Redarc products I'm using. For my 2nd solar panel on its own MPPT controller, I'm using a Victron product. Also for battery monitoring, I'm using a Victron product that uses a shunt and bluetooth to easily let me monitor...

    Redarc or ...?

I am super pleased with the Redarc products I have in my 4Runner. I'm admittedly a novice at all this as well and know just enough to shock the crap out of myself! I have a couple of their products: DC to DC battery charge BCDC1225D and their SBI12 solenoid and all the necessary fuses that...

    Texas routes

This is some great information, thanks for it! The problem with talking about routes in TX and specifically Big Bend area...its not too disimilar from telling a guy in Kansas that there are great camping spots...in Utah. Its a long ass way out there!

    Show me your drawer systems!

Trekboxx is a company out of CA that ships anywhere in US. Pricey no doubt, but I really love my set up for a 5th Gen 4Runner

Thoughts on a 20lb bottle vs having a bunch of small ones?

1lb vs 20lb seems all feast all famine to me. There are a lot of tanks in between these sizes. I use a cylindrical shaped 6lb tank that works for the size and footprint I was aiming for. Coleman makes an adapter to for using larger tank fittings to supply fuel to your smaller devices intended...

    Mod suggestions

The above comments re 17" sound right to me, I have 17" aftermarket wheels. My only comment here would be to not go any larger than 17"; the more tire sidewall the better your off and on road ride will be. I have a 5th gen 2018 4Runner so I can't speak to the options a 1998 has for rear bumper...
