Haha, fair. To each their own rig. 6 miles per gallon be damned. Some nuance though... contributors review and approve their own sections before anything ships.
Fair question. No offense taken. I'm the publisher, not the builder. I've put together guides in other niches and am good at organizing complex info into something useful. The real expertise comes from the builders and contributors who've actually done the work. I just pull that know-how all...
Thanks! A labor of love. Leaning more towards the planning and decision-making side of builds, not a gear catalog.
Think frameworks for choosing components, sizing systems, budgeting at different levels, avoiding the expensive mistakes. Category by category, not vehicle by vehicle. Appreciate...
Appreciate that, @reaver Totally open. Collabing with guys who've actually been through the build and rebuild process is exactly what I'm after.
I'll reach out as the project takes shape. Cool I DM ya when I'm there?
That's what I'm picking up for sure! Looking forward to soaking this all in.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone @Shaun8484 @roots66 @El-Dracho @Bengt N and anyone I may have missed
Really appreciate the input. @grubworm good call on solar and fasteners, those are going on the list for sure - check. @highboy4x4 that's exactly the problem I keep hearing about - months researching each component just to figure out what fits your specific rig and budget. Think that's the gap...
Good point thanks. Seems forest roads, car camps could be totally different setups than someone hitting harder trails. Wonder if it makes more sense to break it out by how you use your rig? or by category like electrical, sleeping, suspension, etc?
Love me some solo camping. Gives me a chance to just be. My prof pic is solo at the Buffalo River. I think a healthy mix of group and solo is the sweet spot.
Super helpful for a newb like me. I second the TP! I'm already roughing it out there. Ain't trying to be a "suck it up, buttercup" hero in that matter.
Any recs on a good all weather 90 sec tent? And rooftop tent? I'm 6' so always looking at length.
I've been deep in the overlanding YouTube rabbit hole for a while now. I like watching builds come together, but really dig seeing finished rigs out in the field and how people use them. I've put together guides in other industries and I'm considering doing one for this space. Not gear reviews...
Hey everyone! Adam from Arkansas.
No rig yet, but it's on the horizon. Leaning toward 4Runner build. Or landcruiser (Troopy?). Or sprinter. hell I dunno. I want them all.
Central Arkansas
See above. Still in the dreaming and researching phase.
Novice. I've been deep in the YouTube rabbit hole...
