Rally Point Details:

September Northern VA/MD Monthly meet up for Flagpole Knob. Meet at 10AM Saturday Sept. 16th at the Stokesville Market & Supply on North River Rd in Stokesville, VA. There is a very well stocked general store and fuel is also available.

From the info I've seen in the thread the Flagpole Knob trail is beginner friendly & doable with stock vehicles, while still providing adequate challenges from some more seasoned off-roaders. If this is incorrect, PLEASE let me know, so folks don't get into trouble. If anyone with some experience on this trail would like to step up and take the lead on the drive, that would be awesome. As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work. A link to the approximate route in Google Maps can be found HERE.

Camping is available at the Stokesville Campground which is 1/2 mile from rally location at the Stokesville Market. The campground has hot showers, flushing toilets, free firewood, RV hookups available, a huge grass field with playground for the kiddos and a pavilion with bbq grills & propane for the guests to use. It's family & dog friendly. There is a private swimming hole under the old train bridge in the North River. It's owned by a former professional mountain bike racer so the place is somewhat of an underground Mecca for mountain bikers from all over to come to, given it's access to the hundreds of miles of trails. Those of you interested in camping at Stokesville, let me know so I can give the owner, Chris Scott, a head count. Payments can be handled via PAYPAL to stokesvillecampground@gmail.com or in cash at the campsite after you arrive and set up. They are very relaxed with regards to this.

There is also camping at the North River Campground which is approximately 6.5 miles from the Stokesville Market. I've personally never camped there but I've heard it's a great spot. The amenities & more info are listed on the website.

Ladies & Gents, this is my first attempt at a meet up and my first time using Rally Point, so please bear with me. For those of you who are planning to come down Friday or earlier, I plan to be at the Stokesville Campground Friday around mid day and will be doing some riding & fishing. *There is a lot of really good fly fishing as well as spin fishing in the area.

Looking forward to meeting you guys!

Ryan
