Winter Weekender: Colorado Banana Belt

Colorado camping in winter? Are you crazy, you ask? Perhaps, but the chosen camping area is in the "banana belt" of Colorado and usually warmer than most. Unless there is a storm just prior there shouldn't be much, if any, snow at our planned camping area. Some of the shaded trails could still be covered, however. This is a one nighter from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek, Canon City, Salida and more. See below for details.

Rally Point Details:

Tentative meeting area is Safeway at 1920 S Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80905 at 9 AM.

We'll start at Old Stage Rd. Then to Gold Camp Rd, Cripple Creek, Shelf Road, through Red Canyon Park to the Seep Springs OHV area via BLM 5830. We'll begin looking for camp at this time and call it a day.

Day 2 we'll depart the Seep Springs area via CR 69. We'll turn west onto US Hwy 50 to Fremont CR27 into Texas Creek OHV area to explore here for the day.

Much of this route depends up on conditions and snow/ice. We'll do our due diligence between now and then to determine if a an alternate path or even an alternate date should be chosen. Please watch the thread associated with this Rally Point.
