- Self-sustaining and been regularly meeting as an Overland Bound official meetup for a minimum of 12 months
- Is family friendly
- Provides a training/educational component
- Provides a social component
- Conducts at least one trail cleanup per year
- The Regional Director will nominate a local meet-up that meets the criteria
- Promotion to Five Star will be approved at the Executive level of Overland Bound
- Host maintains 5-star community rating
