which way do you like your annex to open?

Looking for some opinions. I'm in the market for the smittybilt overlander xl and annex, or at least a tent that has the enclosed ladder.

My question is which way does your annex open and do you like it? Smittybilt opens to the side under the ladder but I've seen a lot of the tuff stuff tents open in front of the ladder. Seems going around the ladder would get annoying, but I'd love to hear some real world thoughts. Thank you in advance.

I would say you want the ladder fully enclosed in the annex. If it is raining, you are protected going up the ladder into you tent.

Oh definitely, I'm more interested in the opening to the annex. The smittybilt opens to the side and others open to the front. Attached 2 pictures to kinda discribe what I mean.
