If he was in San Fran I'll guess the facilities he was at were much, much bigger. Our city only used around 2.5 million gallons each day during the winter. And thankfully, we do not process waste water, it gets pumped to a larger facility 20 miles away.
Yea they had several sites that did purification and each waste treatment site had 2-4 digesters its a pretty big operation.

45 years later.... I'm a chimney sweep.

But in those 45 years. Swim Instructor, Lifeguard, DoorMan, Chauffeur, Front Desk Clerk, Night Auditor, Banquets Captain, Bartender, Waiter, Bar Manager, Hotel Manager, Student, Commercial Kitchen Designer, Fire Fighter, Bridge Builder, Truck Driver, Lumber Manager, Building Supply Retailer, Town Councillor, and finally my calling. Chimney Sweep, Installer, Inspector.

I love sweeping chimneys in places like this.
