My partner and I are currently planning for a year long trip exploring Turkey and Europe.
Start location is Limassol Cyprus, where we will travel over the green line into the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to catch an overnight ferry to Turkey.
Planning is almost complete for Turkey covering approximately 3000 miles before we head into Greece.
Greece is a work in progress and it will be finalised as we travel through Turkey and get more up to date information.
We are travelling in a 2001 Land Rover Defender 90 towing an ex military converted trailer.
Few questions for you experienced guys out there:-
1/. When you plan for a longer duration trip how far ahead do you plan? I'm ex military so I like a plan, I don't like totally off the cuff but I do understand that plans don't always go as desired and changes can and will be needed. But a vague plan I can accept so how deep does your planning go? Do you plan each and every stop and each and every route or as stated go with a vague directional plan and take each day as it comes including duration in each place.
2/. When the trip covers a number of seasons or climates how do you base the clothes you will take with you?
3/. Living in such close proximity with your partner how do you cope to avoid fall outs and arguments. I know me and my missus will argue without doubt but the space to separate and calm down will be much more restricted.
Thanks for any advice you can offer and we will be updating our trip on www.polaris-overland.com and out Polaris Overland Facebook page.
