Trip Social Media Updates

Just curious what everyone does for private updates to family\friends during their Overland trips. My family is going on our first trip next week, a number of coworkers, family and friends have asked for updates along the way. While I'm not announcing publicly anywhere when we are gone for any period of time, I'm curious how other people send updates to a private group. Once the trip is over I'm sure we would create an album or video collage and post it on Facebook\YouTube\Instagram.

Do you just use a text group (whether SMS, Facebook, Google Hangouts, Google Photos) or is there another service out there? We won't be doing much as far as videos go, just status updates and the occasional photos. Looking to keep it restrictive if possible so only those I share it with can access it.

Group SMS if I am in cell range. I have a Garmin InReach Explorer+ otherwise. Group text should be sufficient even if you have times you are out of range. If you send it without signal the next time you grab on it should send it along.
