I bought this at Walmart, for only, $25.00. I wanted something like this for cooking corn bread when out camping. Yes, I could have use the round dutch ovens but hope this works better for bread, bread pudding, and even cooking meat dishes. I will say the surface of the cast iron is ruff. Will be spending time with a sander to get my cooking surface as smooth of a finished serface as possible. What do you think? Oh, will be making some sort of handle to use! Vance.

Love me some cast iron. I've got a version of the griddle but not the dish. I have several differently-sized dutch ovens, a skillet, the griddle.

Yep! Sanding does help. I saw a company that machined theirs after casting and charged more than double...bought some different grit paper and got the same results. Thats a nice kit...can't beat cast iron!
