Silverado Z71 bed rack for kayak transport?

I want a bed rack for my 2019 Z71 Silverado. I do a fair amount of truck camping and my shortbed is usually full of storage crates, camp chairs, firepit, cooler, etc. I want to bring my kayak on some of my trips but there just isn't room with the other stuff taking up all the bed space.

I see a lot of those 'overland' style bed/side racks to carry things like fuel tanks, and shovels. I'm not sure I need that but the idea of a modular style rack that I can expand to seems appealing.If anything I would look to use the inside of a bed rack system to try and better carry or organize some of my camping gear to keep it off the floor of the bed.

Any suggestions? I'm both interested in a standard aluminum rack as well as a base modular system. My bed side rails have some kind of plastic cover that only exposes the rear pocket so I'm not even sure how these things attach.

Check out the KB Voodoo CXR bed racks. They attach to the inside of your bed with with No-Drill Clips, they don't use the stake pockets.

They have a ton of different ways to carry gear.

Trac Rac, now by Thule. Lot of construction folks use them. A front and rear stand, on a slider that can move both to front, or one to the back. Hold like 800 pounds or something

The thing you have over the other stuff posted (as super nice as they are) is that you find these for low money all day every day on Craigslist or Faceplant Marketplace.
