Ehh. we had a 2wd Tacoma with us who did ok. It depends on your driving skill and tire type.

Gauging interest in something here.

Is there anyone who would like to learn how to properly use extraction gear?

This is something that's been on the back of my mind for a long time. There's nothing like having cool gear but never using it. I know we don't tend to go places where someone will get stuck but its nice to have the basics down.
I have diffrent ideas, none of which will damage your vehicle. This can be done stand alone or while were out. It will require a bit of time though. Or I could just stick my cruiser somewhere and we get it unstuck.

I would bet most of our group has never used a traction board, understand the difference between a kinetic strap and a regular tow strap let alone when to use which. At one time, I did this at some of our 4wd events and our Adopt a Trail group.

Opinions?

I think that would be a great idea. I have (most of) the recovery gear needed but have not used any of it in an actual recovery scenario yet. This could also serve as a readiness check for everyone aside from the knowledge to know what is needed or not as far as gear is concerned.

I have never used a traction pad and don't plan on getting any. I have used all the recovery that own many times. It is why I carry a yard shovel instead of a t handle. Maybe we could make a morning of it someplace.

The challenge is, where we have to go to get any kind of obstacle. I spent a weekend exploring Cajon Pass area and came up with nothing. I did learn how much private property there is now. Got chased out of an area because I didn't know I had somehow gone behind the sign. I don't know of any areas in Stoddard Wells with enough sand. Plenty of rocks though.
Sand is safe but were talking Razor road, Afton, White Water... Can make it a day trip or a camp.
